Brighten up your home
January feels like a long month, doesn’t it? After all the fun and festivity of Christmas, getting back to a routine with dark mornings, cold weather and grey skies.
It may not feel like it just yet, but spring is definitely on its way, and there are lots of ways to bring the joys of the season into your home, and beat the January blues.
Colour
Fight back against the dark, grey winter days with a pop of colour.
Plant winter pansies and primroses in pots or hanging baskets outside your front door. These will provide a burst of bright colour that will make you smile every time you leave your home. Your neighbours will appreciate them too, and it’s always good to spread the joy.
Brightly coloured house plants like cyclamen and azaleas are an easy way to bring some cheer indoors. Always read the care instructions on the label when you buy houseplants, and remember to keep deadheading so that new blooms can come through.
Fragrance
As well as looking bright and colourful, lots of early spring flowers have a heady perfume.
Nothing says spring quite like a daffodil, and the miniature variety are particularly pretty, with a beautiful scent. Team these with narcissi and hyacinths for a spring posy that’s a real treat for the senses.
Bringing a little piece of spring into your home will help you forget about cold, damp January, and make you feel like you’re strolling through a meadow on a sunny day instead. If that sounds tempting, pop in to our shop to pick up a few spring-inspired pick-me-ups.
